Are you looking for a job or thinking of changing careers? We have some good news for you. At this time there are many opportunities for individuals in the pool service industry. This industry is booming! Now is the time to enter into employment that can lead to greater professional knowledge, increased technical experience, and a lucrative future. Are you someone who is just entering the workforce? Or someone who has been working but wants a career that is a stepping stone to a better future? Molinari Pools is an established company that is looking for the right people to join our team. Experience in pools is always a plus, but we do provide on-the-job training. You may even already have some of the skills required for success in this profession. Let’s talk about the top 6 work skills needed in the pool service industry.

Trade Skills

If you have worked in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or masonry, you have a head start. You may not have worked with pools, but knowledge of these fields means you have at least some rudimentary experience. You may have repaired gas and electrical heaters. Perhaps you have a working knowledge of 110 and 220-volt electricity. You may be familiar with general plumbing and hydraulics. These basics give you a foot in the door for a career in the pool industry.

General Pool Maintenance Knowledge

One of the fundamental skills required in this profession is knowledge of pool chemistry and water quality. However, don’t worry if you haven’t had training in this area. Our company provides on-the-job training as well as NSPF® CPO certification. Your basic training will also include education on pool filters, pumps, heaters, and their repair.

Good Communication Skills

The ideal candidate for a career in the pool industry will have excellent communication skills. A pool technician has frequent interaction with customers, providing not only service but recommendations and guidance. Many of the customers for whom we do general maintenance turn to us when they need renovations or customization of their pools. It is our goal to develop fantastic relationships with our customers with the goal of being able to provide for their future needs.

Ability to Troubleshoot

A big part of pool maintenance and repair is the ability to troubleshoot potential problems. If you are an individual who enjoys solving problems and is good at anticipating them, you may enjoy the challenges presented frequently to pool technicians. Recognizing a filtration system that may need cleaning or replacing, knowing the signs of a pool leak, and being aware of the many other issues that can occur with swimming pools is invaluable. A pool technician who anticipates problems and practices preventative maintenance will save his or her customers countless dollars and future headaches.

Interest in Latest Technology

Pool construction and renovation have evolved a lot in recent years. If you are someone who enjoys technology, the pool industry abounds with innovations such as automation systems, lighting and water features, Bluetooth® sound systems, and new water purification methods that are transforming the industry.
